This January I begin a month-long residency playing in trio with Aaron Jansz (drs) and Helen Russell (bs) at Ric's in Brisbane's Fortitude Valley. I'm also spending some time in the studio with singer Charlotte Mclean, working on her standards project. In addition, I've started work with frequent collaborator Mark Sholtez, putting togetherthe latest of our Little Village productions for this coming May - this time with with the ARIA winning singer/songwriter Sara Storer.
After some fun gigs with Australian, NY-based tenor player Graeme Norris, I'm looking forward to joining Dorian Mode (NSW) for a small run of dates playing the music of Nat King Cole. I'm also working with Brisbane based singer Charlotte Mclean on an album she's recording later this year.
This year sees The View from Madeleine's Couch celebrating their 18th year of performing a mixture of jazz, samba and bossa sounds. I've been playing with the group since its inception and am very pleased to be playing some special shows with them throughout the year. I'm also busy writing arrangements for a show I'm co-producing with Mark Sholtez that features Australian singer/songwriter Rick Price
Over the coming months I'm looking forward to shows with pianist/vocalist Jake Bristow, and with pianist/vocalist Dorian Mode performing material made famous by Nat King Cole. I'm also busy planning shows for 2016 with singers Charlotte Mclean and Melissa Forbes, and preparing for a duo recording with longtime friend and collaborator Toby Wren.
I had the pleasure of playing on the beautiful new album from songwriter Mark Sholtez. The next few months will see us playing shows around the country in support of his new release. Mark and I are also featured in an upcoming concert featuring iconic Australian artist Wendy Matthews, reworking some of her classic songs. I'll be playing with the Hiroyuki Minowa Trio (Japan) as part of the Brisbane International Jazz Festival. In addition, I'll be playing for Tom Burlinson as he performs the classic Sinatra and Basie live recording 'Sinatra at the Sands'.
During the next few months I'm involved with a range of exciting gigs - with jazz vocalist Melissa Forbes, the Brazilian sounds of the View from Madeleine's Couch, NY based vocalist/pianist Brenda Earle Stokes and saxophonist/composer Andrew Butt. I'll also be spending some time in the studio making a record for singer/songwriter Josh Williams.
I've been putting the finishing touches on a new record from a frequent collaborator - Australian singer/songwriter Mark Sholtez. The album, due for release in April 2015, also features contributions from Larry Goldings on organ and Doug Pettibone on baritone guitar and pedal steel.
